The Shanghai Museum is one of the best museums in China. It's collection is very extensive in jade, furniture, calligraphy, bronze, painting and most of all ceramics. The building is in the shape of a "Ding", which is a ritualistic food cooking vessel in ancient times. Throughout my travels of China, this is the museum that I feel is a must see. It is truly amazing and I always see something new. There was an exhibit on Iranian ceramics during the time we were here and it was amazing as well as rivaling the ancient time period of Chinese Ceramics.
